Joe Virnig is not your average Joe. When he graduated from the Fire Science Program in 2006, his first objective was to become a professional firefighter. He attended the highly regarded fire science school affiliated with the Spokane Fire Department. However, while there he changed directions and decided his interest were more in line with Paramedicine. At that time he enrolled in the Paramedic school in Pheonix, Arizona. Joe is currently an exemplary paramedic for Ballard Ambulance, and is currently testing to get hired as a full-time firefighter.
After Graduating from the Cinematography program at Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center, Oly joined the northwest emmy nominated Howell at the Moon Productions in 2007. Notable projects include Leavenworth’s Woody Goomsba campaigns (winner of the International Davey Award for Tourism) and multi-award winning documentary Pedal-Driven. He has worked with top-tier clients including the city of Austin, Texas; Bosch Healthcare, Mission Ridge Ski Area, and Diamondback Bicycles.
Oly was the Director of Photography on Pedal-Driven, which received a best cinematography award at Docutah, and was recently recognized at Banff International Mountain Film Festival, where his film “Flow” was a finalist and was granted inclusion onto the Festival World Tour.
As for his future goals, Oly wants to continue to inspire change in his community and impact the world through visual media.
After attending the Cinematography program at Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center, Charles went on to work at Howell at the Moon Productions where he worked on feature length documentaries as well as award winning commercial projects.
In 2010 he left Washington State for Hollywood and worked on the set of The Defenders as a post production assistant and also produced the Indy film The Dropout. Recently, he has returned to the Northwest and has worked on several award winning film and commercial projects at North 40 Productions where he serves as producer.
