Autism Awareness: Embracing Neurodiversity in Our School

April is Autism Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the strengths and talents of individuals on the autism spectrum while promoting understanding and acceptance. Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people communicate, interact, and experience the world around them.

In the Moses Lake School District, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. Here are some ways we can show our support:

  • Learn & Listen – Take time to understand autism by listening to the experiences of autistic individuals.

  • Be Kind & Patient – Everyone processes information differently. A little patience and kindness go a long way.

  • Celebrate Differences – Neurodiversity makes our community stronger! Embrace the unique perspectives and talents of every student.

Let’s work together to make our school a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and accepted. 💙

Transition

Celebration

We had another great turnout at our annual Transition Celebration event this year. Jodi Truman and her team invited tons of local resources around the area for our students and their families to explore and get information from to access now and/or post high school. If you missed the event, but are interested in some of these resources, reach out to Jodi (jtruman@mlsd161.org). Check out the picture of all of our vendors who attended the event.
