Inside the Sacred Heart Inpatient Pharmacy with Haley, Hunter, and Sean as they complete their clinicals with @providencehealthsystem Haley (NATS): “Shannon’s class gave me focus and made me realize I can do anything! No too long ago, these rockstars volunteered to be helpers for the firefighters testing for their state Firefigthers certification. It gave them a great opportunity to network and gain some great experience. We're always amazed on how much work they're willing to put in even on their time off. #thankyou #firefightertesting #yourhelpmatters

It has been a great couple of weeks for our student organizations! Our rookie CyberPatriot team took first place in the state of Washington in the Gold division and finished ranked 2nd in the nation out of 900 teams! CyberPatriot is a 4 round competition where students work as a team to secure computers, perform computer forensics, and set up secure services on computers. The first two rounds just focus on seeding and the last two rounds determine ranking inside your bracket. Future Business Leaders of America, FBLA, attended the Winter Conference here in Spokane last Friday. 19 students placed in the top 6 in their respective events and will be heading to state. SVT had 6 first place finishes and 8 second place finishes. Students compete in events like Broadcast Journalism, Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, and Computer Problem solving among others. This is the first year that SVT has had an FBLA chapter! SkillsUSA has been competing in their various events for the past several weeks including robotics, CNC and computer programming, precision machining, and related academic areas. 15 students from SkillsUSA have qualified for state in 8 different events! Please congratulate our awesome students and their amazing advisors on their hard work and success!

"Last month our CBTECH Fire Fighting students competed in 2 SkillsUSA competitions in our new Eastern Region. We took a packed van of 7 to Spokane for CPR/ First Aid and brought home 1st (Ceri Perkins) 2nd (Felix Nuetzhorn) and 3rd (Kora Preston). We then held a competition at CBTECH for FireFighting, although no other schools from our region chose to compete, we had 9 students who battled for a position to go to the State competition. Taking 1st (Kora Preston), 2nd (Zander Leasher) and a 3 way tie for third with (Mylee Dana, Delilah Diaz, and Adan Moreno). March 27th-29th we will have the opportunity to bring at least 6 students to the State SkillsUSA competition to compete again and defend our 2024 title as State Champions." Lt. Lynn Dodd FF/Medic

The Gratitude Project Over the last two years, the NCTA community participated in a project called the Art of Gratitude, led by Student Support Specialist Sherrie Green. This year we worked with Dr. Philip Lindholm, who has worked in the field of gratitude, and helped to create a video to support the important work already started by the students and staff at NCTA. The school recognized the importance of gratitude by encouraging students to write three things they’re grateful for each day. This powerful practice started as a small effort and grew into something we can all be proud of. Many students continue to embrace gratitude, openly discuss it, and carry it forward in their lives. Based on the success of the project and the interest in creating a sustainable practice, NCTA's Animation & Graphic Design program designed and published a reproducible gratitude journal featuring original artwork. Instructor Linton Porteous shared student Alexa Silva's work and sentiments about the project. #Gratitude #whatareyougratefulfor

Our PM Criminal Justice class visited with Sgt. Cohen, CSO Walker and CSO Gerondale of the Mount Vernon Police Department. The students were given a tour of the facility and were able to speak with many different officers and sergeants from MVPD. The students were able to observe actual defensive tactics training and speak with the defensive tactics instructors. They visited with detectives and Detective Sergeant Young who explained the operation of the criminal investigation section. The NCTA CJ students learned a lot and were very appreciative of the time spent with the officers at the Mount Vernon Police Department. #ThankYou #yoursupportmatters #PrivateTourExperience #mountvernonpolicedepartment #criminaljustice
