Aerospace Manufacturing students were given a VIP tour of the world's largest building (by volume), the Boeing Mega Factory in Everett, WA. Because of their status as students in a Boeing partner program, they were given special access to walk the shop floor around some of the largest commercial aircraft in the world. Unfortunately, due to the proprietary nature of what goes on inside the factory, we were not allowed to take pictures. The included photo shows the students touring the 777X fatigue test facility located next to the Boeing campus. The 777X is the latest version of the Boeing 777 aircraft. It is different from the previous versions primarily because of its use of advanced carbon fiber wings on the aluminum fuselage body. The fatigue test was designed to simulate all of the stresses encountered in flight, from a normal smooth flight to worse than anything the plane would ever encounter in the sky. It's currently over 50,000 simulated flight cycles since 2020. Apply before April 24 Description: Introduction to Engineering Design is the first foundational course of the Project Lead the Way high school engineering pathway and is appropriate for students who are interested in engineering and design. Through both individual and collaborative team activities, projects and problems, students will solve problems as they practice common engineering design and development protocols such as project management and peer review. Students will develop skills in technical representation and documentation of design solutions according to accepted technical standards, and they will use current 3D design and modeling software to represent and communicate solutions. Second Apprenticeship Information Night, welcoming 15 apprenticeship programs and families from across the region. Attendees had the chance to meet apprenticeship coordinators and instructors while learning how to enter these career pathways in the future. Apprenticeships are one of the best opportunities for students to gain hands-on training, enter the workforce, and start earning—without the burden of debt.
